Wild Orchids



There are a lot of species of native orchids that grow wild in my area. Here's a snapshot of what's been growing around my house this year.


Dipodium punctatum
Hyacinth Orchid

FLOWERING: November-February



Caleana major
Flying Duck-orchid, Large Duck-orchid
FLOWERING: Semptember-January



Thelymitra ixiodes
Dotted Sun-orchid
FLOWERING: August-October


Petalochilus catenatus (formerly Caladenia catenata)
White Finger, White Caladenia
FLOWERING: May-August

Old Sherlock Holmes at work again. Your Dipodium punktatum looks suspiciously like an orchid I have had at the bottom of my gaarden on Mt.Lofty, which is parasitic on Stringy Bark, so I assume you have Stringies around you?
Lovely Orchids, I too love our great selection of native species.

I thought I would stop in and take a look at one of your other blogs, I am so glad I did. I love wild orchids, we have some here as well, but alas it is winter. So now it is snowflake and ice crystal season.
