A river divided: freshwater
Rills flow into creeks, creeks flow into rivers and rivers flow into the sea. Once upon a time, saltwater from the sea intermingled with the freshwater flowing from channels in the surrounding hills.
Today, a weir divides the river into two; the freshwater and saltwater side.

There's something really soothing about watching the little fishies congregate - thanks!

Oh, great photos! And the video is a wonderful bonus. :)
Nice shots! It's very interesting that they divided it like that.
Love these! They are so serene looking. I especially liked the divider with the falling water and the one looking through the bent trees.
This is nice...i like the quietness of the water :-)
It would be interesting to see how the same species (both plants and animals) spend their time in the differing habitats that are divided.
Interesting post Lilly. Great build up towards the hydrologic structure. And really good description of what an estuary is. Really well done.
I love sitting still by the reedy parts of rivers or lakes, because you never know what you will see there.
Wonderful photos and I enjoyed your video. It was hypnotic, mesmerizing to watch all those fish.
I really liked the video of the fish, like Tink said it's very soothing :O)
Lovely photo's Lilly
Nice video, a lot of fish. Love the first two pictures.
Nice still shots, and that video really had me fooled. At first I thought it was a water plant waving in the current, and then I saw somefish come, and then I realized - it's all fish!! Had a good smile over that!
I love the willow, looking over the water.
Thanks for sharing!
Interesting stuff about he separation of the salt and the fresh. Neat photos.
Very interesting post, and I love your photos. Great Watery Wednesday.
Part is fresh water and part salt water? How interesting and pretty photos..
